HIKARU MATSUMURA THE UNIQUE-BAG

In today’s world, it seems that priority is given more to efficiency rather than craftsmanship.

I traveled all over Japan looking for the ideal craftsmen who could bring my vision for a bag collection to life. During my travels I developed an interest in mountain-climbing shoes produced in the Tohoku area and protective gear for kendo produced in Kyushu, as well as their manufacturing methods. In this world the craftsmen were uncompromising in the pursuit to create quality products.

I thought to myself, “By combining the specialized techniques that these manufacturers possess along with quality bag-making, wouldn’t it be interesting to adopt these methods to create a truly unique handbag collection”

As a result of this research, a partnership with manufacturers in Osaka who produced the world’s leading baseball gloves was made possible. This group, “Baseball Glove” serves as category No.1 in the present collection.

With this collection, I hope that each bag will carry the spirit and pride of the craftsmen.

R-SERIES:
This is an all-leather series finished with softened leather to which a natural shrink process was applied.

C-SERIES:
This is a highly practical series using high density taffeta woven with a hard-twist nylon yarn, and thick cowhide softened leather.

W-SERIES:
This series uses a combination of roughly but softly finished materials using washed kip cowhide, and softened leather.

A-SERIES:
This is a series of accessories using balls as a motif.
