** NARO’S WONDERLAND **

Naro Tamiya’s creative works expressed with felt materials and patchwork are unique because of their colorfulness. A special exhibition of his works, NARO’S WONDERLAND, will be held at ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE.
This exhibition tells the story of stylish extra-terrestrial “Naronnians” who came for shopping from the Planet Naro, and showcases works from 2005 to the latest in a surprising and enjoyable way.
In addition, a workshop for parents and children to make stylish extra-terrestrials will be held on September 18 (Sat). Dress up a plain human-shaped plush toy with felts, fabrics and paints! It is an event in which parents and children can participate to make a stylish extra-terrestrial together with Mr. Tamiya.
We are also planning to provide goods that show Mr. Tamiya’s illustrations during this exhibition. Please stop by our shop, which becomes even more energetic during this period!

Naro Tamiya
1965 Born in Tokyo.
1990 Starts holding numerous solo and joint exhibits as a printmaker.
1992 Finishes the Print Art Course of the Sokei Academy of Fine Art & Design.
1999 Starts participating in the ART WORK at the Miyake Design Office.
2005 Is responsible for the installation of clothes at the ISSEY MIYAKE Paris Collection 1977-1999: Invitations by Tadanori Yokoo held by the Museum of Modern Art, Toyama.
2007 Exhibits works at the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT exhibition THIS PLAY!
2008 Participates in the Koganecho Bazaar held by the city of Yokohama. Holds the exhibition called Naro Tamiya + me ISSEY MIYAKE.
2009 Holds the exhibition The World of Naro Tamiya – Fantastic Laughing Dolls at the Verkehr Museum (Port of Shimizu, Shizuoka Prefecture).
He is now responsible for the store displays at me ISSEY MIYAKE/AOYAMA, PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE/ROPPOINGI.

** Workshop “Stylish Extra-Terrestrials Made by Parents and Children” **
Date: September 18 (Sat), starts from 13:00 (takes about an hour)
Venue: ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE
Target: Children between four and six years and their parents
(Note that during the workshop we use scissors, adhesive bond, permanent markers and safety pins.)

Items using warm materials announce the coming cold season. The season will feature series of items with peculiar curvy lines, and series using stretching textiles which are comfortable to wear.

This series represents an embossed texture by using different materials for its herringbone pattern.

(L) This down coat has a compact shape and feminine silhouette. With its stretchable texture, it is particularly comfortable to wear.

(L) These mittens partly use materials that change colors according to the way they are stretched. It is fantastic to see how the tone of the colors changes with each move of the hands.
