We just held a Live Music Event "Maywa Deki Product Demonstration".

Installations using the "Otamatone" by the art unit "Maywa Denki" just started.

Exhibition: OTAMATONE
From March 15 (Thu) to April 15(Sun), 2012 *The period has been extended.
During this period, installations using the “Otamatone,” a musical instrument produced by the art unit “Maywa Denki,” will be in place. Although the Otamatone, looks like a musical note-shaped toy, is actually a functional electronic instrument that can be played. A diorama with Otamatones dressed up in costumes expressing various genres of music will also be on display.
On March 24 (Sat), a live music event by Maywa Denki using their original musical instruments will be held. You will need to reserve your space via e-mail to participate in this event. Please refer to the following information and visit our store on the day of the event.

Maywa Denki
Meywa Denki is an art unit produced by Nobumichi Tosa. Clad in a blue-colored work uniform and referring to the unit’s piece of work as “a product” and live performance as a “product demonstration,” Tosa follows in the style of the small- and medium-sized enterprises that supported the Japanese economy during its high-growth period, and is engaged in wide variety of activities beyond the existing framework of art.

An original performance by dancer Masako Yasumoto was held as an event of THE 1st STEP.

Masako Yasumoto
Masako Yasumoto, who has danced her way around the world as a free-spirited traveler, mainly in Asia and Africa, continues to develop the “sensation of wild nature” even after entering the world of contemporary dance. With performances and choreography appearing in concerts, music videos, movies, and television her dance has attracted the attention of major media outlets. She plays a unique and irreplaceable role in a wide cross section of activities.

FINAL HOME
“If I were to lose my home because of a disaster, war,
or loss of job, what kind of clothes would I, as a fashion designer, offer?
And what would such clothes look like in good times?”

The HOME 1 nylon coat took shape in response to this question, which Kosuke Tsumura, the designer of FINAL HOME, asked himself. The product has been made continuously since the inauguration of the brand in 1994.

The concept of these products is clothes that can be tailored to personal use. For example, the coat insulates against the cold when the pockets are stuffed with newspapers, and it can be used for evacuation if you equip it with survival rations and a medical kit. The name “FINAL HOME” was given to this coat with the idea of it making it the “ultimate shelter.”

The color of organdie used for the installation was just changed in blue.
